South Valley Tour

We will pick you up at your accommodation between 8:40 and 9:00 AM, then head to the Tipón Archaeological Park to begin our Inca adventure. Located 24 km southeast of Cusco, this ancient Inca site is thought to have been a royal garden ordered by Huiracocha. It is one of the most elaborate examples of agricultural terraces created by the Incas. These high terraces, which extend into the narrow valley, are irrigated by an aqueduct from Pachatusan Mountain. In addition to the terracing, there are several other structures at Tipón, including Inca baths, a temple complex, canals, and aqueducts.

After Tipón, we'll head to Pikillacta, the only pre-Inca site in the Cusco area. The adobe complex was built between 700 and 900 BC by the Wari culture. A short distance away, there's also a small Inca site known as Rumicolca, an ancient Inca checkpoint. After visiting this complex, we'll continue to Andahuailillas. Here, we'll discover Peru's Sistine Chapel, a church housing gilded altars, paintings, and painted ceilings. The exterior of the chapel is simple, but inside, we'll find numerous masterpieces; the walls are fascinating. On the return trip to Cusco, we'll stop in Saylla to enjoy the famous and delicious chicharrones (pork rinds). We'll return to Cusco at approximately 2:30 PM.
